Furniture Connect vs Google Gemini

Google Gemini Alternative for Furniture Product Data and Catalog Management

Looking for a Google Gemini alternative for furniture product data? Google offers several Gemini experiences, from Gemini Apps to Gemini in Workspace and Gemini Enterprise. They're useful when product information already exists across documents, business systems or a Merchant Center feed. None is documented as a ready-made furniture catalog.

In detail

Several Gemini experiences, not one

Google offers several distinct Gemini experiences, including Gemini Apps, Gemini in Google Workspace, Gemini Enterprise and separate developer services.[1][2] This comparison names the relevant offering for each capability. The rows aren't features of one interchangeable Gemini subscription.

For a furniture team, the question is simple: do you need an assistant that can work across existing information, or a system that natively holds products, variants, materials and assets as maintained records?

Gemini Enterprise works across existing systems

Google describes Gemini Enterprise as an intranet search, AI assistant and agentic platform.[1] Its connectors work across sources such as SharePoint, Jira, Confluence and ServiceNow, and it supports structured data stores with custom schemas.[4] Whether results respect source permissions depends on how the connectors are configured.[4]

That's valuable when a specification is buried in a document, a launch plan sits in a spreadsheet and customer questions live somewhere else.

Gemini Enterprise can hold and search structured information. What the reviewed documentation doesn't describe is a ready-made furniture PIM with product families, variants and linked materials.

Images in Gemini Apps

Gemini Apps can generate images, edit uploaded or generated images, and use multiple uploaded images as references. Availability, limits and output options vary by account.[3] Google's developer image services have separate specifications.

A Merchant Center feed doesn't enable checkout on its own

Supported Google shopping experiences can use Merchant Center product data.[5] Checkout through the Universal Commerce Protocol needs more than a feed. Google describes it as available to select merchants at this time,[6] documents it on Gemini web with the app to follow,[5] and requires an approved integration[7] and eligible products.[8]

Furniture merchants should check the product restrictions closely. They cover custom-design goods, non-standard delivery fees such as freight, and items that need additional installation or setup contracts.[8] That doesn't exclude all furniture, but it affects a lot of it.

And if the price, availability, variant identifier or landing page is wrong in the source feed, putting Gemini on top doesn't repair the source record.

What Furniture Connect holds

Furniture Connect's Products area holds product and variant records alongside linked materials and imagery. Its completeness indicators score each product against a channel's required fields, so the team can see what's still missing. Those indicators support review; they don't certify the accuracy of the underlying facts.

When the Agent generates or edits an image from references, it compares the result visually with those references before surfacing it for human approval. That isn't dimensional verification or publication approval.

When the difference becomes visible

Imagine the team is launching a sectional sofa in two configurations and 12 fabrics.

Gemini can help find the source documents, summarize the range and draft channel copy, and Gemini Apps can generate imagery from the product references supplied to it. For searching and reasoning across the documents a team already has, Gemini is the stronger tool.

The catalog still needs to establish:

  • The identifiers for the sellable products and variants
  • Which fabrics are valid for each configuration
  • The approved product-level dimensions
  • The relevant price and availability records
  • Which image belongs to which product or variant
  • Which facts are shared and which content varies by channel

That's where Furniture Connect fits. The two can complement each other, but one shouldn't be described as the other simply because both use AI.

A practical test

Pick one product family and ask where each approved fact is maintained. Then follow that information into the Merchant Center feed or another destination.

If Gemini is finding and using a clear source, the assistant layer is doing its job. If the "source" is several spreadsheets and conflicting documents, the catalog problem still needs fixing underneath it.
