What Is IFHS?

If you sell furniture in Ireland, you know the trade is small and close-knit. Buyers recognize each other. A supplier's reputation travels the length of the country in a week. And once a year, a large slice of that trade gathers under one roof. This post covers what the Irish Furniture & Homewares Show, IFHS, actually is, why it carries the weight it does in the Irish market, and where Furniture Connect fits for the retailers who work it.

What is IFHS?

IFHS is the trade show the Irish furniture industry converges on, the only event of its kind built specifically for the Irish market. The 2026 edition runs 23–25 August at the Sport Ireland National Indoor Arena in Blanchardstown, Dublin, bringing together around 70 exhibitors, 1,300+ attendees and 700+ individual Irish retailers. For over a decade it's sat at the heart of the sector, connecting retailers, suppliers and buyers from every level of the trade.

Its importance isn't down to size, it matters because it's the one room where the Irish trade meets itself, where a family retailer in the west can see a season's collections, meet the suppliers behind them, and shake hands on the ranges that will fill a showroom floor for the year ahead.

In a market this connected, IFHS works less like a marketplace and more like a yearly checkpoint for the whole sector at once.

What IFHS actually does for the trade

The show performs a few distinct jobs for Irish furniture businesses:

  • Collections in one place. A retailer can walk a season's ranges (sofas, dining, bedroom, homewares), across suppliers in a single visit, instead of chasing catalogs and sample requests one by one.
  • Buyers meet suppliers. The introductions that turn into a year's orders happen face to face, inside a trusted circle rather than a cold inbox.
  • A read on the market. New ranges, price movement, what's selling and what's stalling; the show is where the trade takes its own temperature.
  • A shared calendar. Held in Dublin each year, IFHS gives the sector a fixed point to plan launches, ranges and buying trips around.

For businesses handling many supplier ranges after the show, why furniture distributors struggle with product content explains the extra mapping and identity work.

Where AI changes the math

Buying the range is the fast part. What follows is slower. Supplier price lists and spec sheets arrive in different formats, dimensions need checking, each colorway needs an image, and a listing has to be written before a customer can see any of it. A range bought at the show in August can still be waiting for its product pages when the autumn trade starts.

That gap, between placing an order and having a sellable listing, is exactly where AI is starting to change the math for furniture retailers. We have written about why it still takes so long to launch a furniture collection and why supplier product data arrives incomplete; both are the same gap seen from the retailer's desk. Room-setting imagery that used to mean a studio day per range can now be generated from a handful of reference shots. Supplier spreadsheets with inconsistent dimensions and half-finished specs can be cleaned into structured product data automatically, rather than manually, line by line. For small teams without a photography budget or a data specialist on staff, that shift is the difference between a catalog live in weeks versus months.

Furniture Connect is built around that shift. Upstairs Downstairs, an Irish retailer, uses our furniture-purpose-built studio to produce on-brand room-setting imagery and product views quickly across a varied catalog, lifestyle scenes tailored to their look, and cleanup of lighting, shadows, reflections and fabric flaws, supporting a small team through a demanding trading period.

We stay close to how the industry actually works: Furniture Connect is a BFA Supply Member in the UK and part of the American Home Furnishings Alliance in the US, and we work with the Irish retailers already using the platform. The result for a small team: a full season live in weeks, not months, without adding headcount.

Use furniture supplier catalog onboarding to plan the work between selecting a range and publishing it. Then measure the change using where AI creates measurable value in furniture.

Frequently asked questions

What is IFHS?

IFHS is the Irish Furniture & Homewares Show, the trade show the Irish furniture industry converges on and the only event of its kind built for the Irish market. Retailers, suppliers and buyers from every level of the trade meet under one roof in Dublin each year to see a season's collections, meet the suppliers behind them and agree the ranges that will fill showroom floors for the year ahead.

When and where is IFHS 2026?

The 2026 edition runs 23–25 August at the Sport Ireland National Indoor Arena in Blanchardstown, Dublin. It brings together around 70 exhibitors, more than 1,300 attendees and over 700 individual Irish retailers.

Why does IFHS matter so much to the Irish furniture trade?

Not because of its size. The Irish trade is small and close-knit, and IFHS is the one room where it meets itself. A retailer can walk a season's sofas, dining, bedroom and homewares across suppliers in a single visit, introductions that turn into a year's orders happen face to face, and the show gives the sector a read on the market and a fixed point in the calendar to plan launches and buying trips around.

What happens after a retailer buys a range at IFHS?

The slow part. Supplier price lists and spec sheets arrive in different formats, dimensions need checking, each colorway needs an image and a listing has to be written before customers can see the range. That gap between placing the order and having a sellable listing is where AI-generated room-setting imagery and automated clean-up of supplier data are changing the timeline for small teams, from months to weeks.

See it for yourself

The fastest way to understand the fit is to watch the platform work on your actual products. Request a demo and we'll show you catalog-grade imagery and sales-ready product data built around your real SKUs, the kind of work that turns a season bought at IFHS into a catalog that's ready to sell.
