Manufacturer Product-Content Readiness Checklist

A pre-launch checklist for confirming that a furniture range is ready for its planned retail, trade and direct sales channels.

Manufacturer Product-Content Readiness Checklist

A range is not ready because the hero products have photographs and the master spreadsheet is mostly filled in.

It is ready for a named destination when the products and variants in the launch set have the information, assets and approvals that destination needs.

Use this checklist before the first retailer submission, trade launch or direct product-page upload.

Range and variant decisions

  • The launch set names every product and sellable variant.
  • Each variant has a stable internal SKU.
  • Fabrics, finishes, sizes and orientations are structured consistently.
  • Sampled options that are not orderable have been excluded.
  • Product and variant relationships fit the intended channel structure.
  • Each destination has a target submission and launch date.

If the range is going to Shopify, check the current product structure against its limit of 2,048 variants and three options per product.

Product specifications

  • Shared product facts and variant-specific facts are separated.
  • Customer-facing dimensions have been checked against the approved product.
  • Packaging dimensions and weights are present where required.
  • Materials, construction, care and assembly information are approved.
  • Commercial values have a currency, market and effective date.
  • Unresolved conflicts have an owner and are not presented as final.

Imagery and assets

  • The asset plan covers the required products, variants and materials.
  • Hero, cut-out, lifestyle, detail, swatch and diagram roles are clear.
  • Each asset is linked to the correct product, SKU, colorway or material.
  • Channel sizes, aspect ratios and resolutions have been applied explicitly.
  • A person has approved the product representation before use.

When the Furniture Connect Agent generates or edits imagery using product references, its workflow includes a visual comparison of product presence, silhouette and proportions, material, finish and color. Any identified mismatch or uncertainty is flagged for review. This check does not guarantee product accuracy or replace human approval before publication.

Copy and commercial content

  • Base titles, descriptions, features and care information use approved facts.
  • Where channel- or language-specific content is used, it is maintained separately from the shared product facts.
  • Prices and terms are correct for retail, trade and direct use.
  • Where prices or other values are calculated, the inputs, calculation and output have been checked and approved.
  • Sales materials name the exact variant being offered.
  • No discontinued option remains in the launch copy or templates.

Compliance and supporting documents

  • Requirements have been checked for the product, market and destination.
  • Evidence and instructions are attached to the products or variants they cover.
  • The source, reviewer and review date are recorded.
  • Labels, warnings and claims use the current requirement.
  • Missing evidence is visible rather than replaced with a guessed value.

Do not use one global "compliant" checkbox as a substitute for product- and market-specific evidence.

Channel preparation

  • The current retailer or platform specification has been checked.
  • Fields and assets have been mapped to the right destination roles.
  • The team has reviewed the final output before submission.
  • A named person will check rejections and published pages.
  • Corrections will return to the base record.
  • Submission and approval are not being assumed to happen automatically.

Google Merchant Center, for example, requires submitted availability to match the product's landing page and checkout experience, including at variant level. That is one destination rule, not a universal catalog status.

Ownership and handoff

  • Product has approved the range and specifications.
  • Marketing has approved the copy and visual direction.
  • Commercial or finance has approved relevant prices and rules.
  • Channel owners have approved the destination outputs.
  • Sales knows what is available, when and in which variants.
  • One person is accountable for the range being ready as a whole.

How to use the result

Do not turn the checklist into a percentage and declare the range 92% ready.

Report the answer by destination and blocker. For example, using illustrative figures:

146 of 168 planned variants are ready for Retailer A. Fourteen need packaging data and eight need an approved finish image.

That gives the team a launch decision and a work list. An average does neither.

For the end-to-end process behind the checklist, see the manufacturer product-content operating guide.
